![]() ![]() He stayed consistent in his writing, which means I have the same general complaints as the previous books. He brought all the characters together for a natural and epic finale. The story moves around in surprising but fitting ways. Gwynne did a great job upping the stakes and suspense and drawing out the scenes that needed drawing out. On the other hand, this is one of the few stories I have read or watched lately that I did not feel like the climax was rushed and too easy. There was a little hinting to it (something Gwynne does well) but it still saved the day a little too suddenly. The ending was very satisfying aside from one part that felt a little too deus ex machina for me. I will miss the story and the characters (those that are left). But, as I said, it’s my personal taste.ĭid I love this series? Yes, I did.A fitting end to the series. I know there is another series after this, but I also know it’s quite a few years in the future so yeah I had wanted to know more about these characters. It’s just my personal opinion, but I felt like some things were left unsolved, or at least the reader isn’t given any information as to what happens to the characters after. I still can’t understand why people like Coralene so much because for me she is one of my least favorite characters.Īnyway, I thought Cywen could have been a stronger character in this series, and her storyline left me a little disappointed. I like her because she is a fighter, even though women are supposed to be weak and just stay home, and she is not as unpleasant as Coralene. Now that she is alone and in danger again, she is finally showing her potential again. I thought her character was wasted in this series because I really enjoyed her storyline in book 2, but then she became kind of useless in book 3. Not enough to give less than 5 stars, but enough that I was left slightly disappointed. Gwynne can be very mean to his characters.Īs I said, there were a couple of things that bothered me just a little bit. If you’re not ready to see some of your favorite characters die, then you might want to stay away from these. I’m glad the bad guys got what they deserved, or at least most of them did. I am also very grateful Corban was alone again because I wasn’t a particular fan of him in book 3 and now he finally has space to grow and shine. I liked how different storylines converged together in this final book. ![]() There were very few things that bothered me a little, but they still weren’t enough for me not to enjoy this last book. A great last book in this series that has become one of my favorites! I loved the story, the characters, the world-building, the tropes, and the new elements. ![]()
